On the weekend of the 22nd & 23rd September 2018 two JKS Wales students travelled to compete at the BKF championships in Leicester. The event was spread over the two days and Rhydian Stockham-Rogers would compete on the Saturday in the Para kata and Nathan Preece on the Sunday in the Cadet kumite.

Rhydian performed the katas Gojushiho Sho and Kanku Sho before being awarded first place and a gold medal.

Nathan fought well considering fighting illness as well as his opponent but in the end narrowly missed out on the medal positions.  It was a quiet weekend with only two competitors but we finished a creditable 27th position out of 61 other clubs.

We will be looking forward to next year where hopefully we can take a larger team to compete at this event.

The next event is the Welsh Championships in Cardiff on September 30th.
